What is lactose-free milk?
Lactose is the natural sugar found in regular milk. Cats need lactase, an enzyme produced by the stomach, to break down lactose so it can be absorbed by the body. However, some cats are naturally lactose intolerant (due to a lack of lactase in their bodies). Cats who are lactose intolerant may experience severe gastrointestinal distress—such as gas, diarrhea, or vomiting—when they consume dairy products containing lactose. With this in mind, we've added a natural enzyme to our milk to remove lactose so cats (and kittens) can consume it without any digestive issues.
